George Albert Thomas ‘Tom’ Sorrell of Wallaceburg passed away peacefully in Chatham in Saturday, February 7, 2026 at the age of 92. Tom was the last surviving son of the late Leo and Ethel (Sallows) Sorrell. Beloved father of Cindy Glover, Scott Sorrell and Michelle ‘Mimi’ Bechard (Todd). Loving grandfather of Gerry (Carla), Taunya (Jason), Nicholas, Omar, Youssif, Aiden, Wesley (Sarah), Jamie (Katie), Nevada (Brittany), Skyler (Marie) and Chyenne (Brandon) and great grandfather of Noah, Ava, Samuel, Louis, Nash, Leo, Olive, Jace, Daxe, Asher, Daxton, Tylar, Jack, Sophia, Arnie and the late Nyla. Brother of the late Leona, Jaqueline, Arthur (Bud) and Jim.
Tom was a proud member of the Metis Nation of Ontario and grew up in Southampton and then Erieau. In his earlier years he was a seaman working on the fishing boats. Tom loved to fly, often piloting small, two-seater airplanes. He spent much of his career at Rockwell International and then working in Colorado, moving back to Canada to be closer to his family in his retirement. Family and friends are invited to gather for visitation at the Haycock-Cavanagh Funeral Home, 409 Nelson Street in Wallaceburg on Thursday, February 12 from 12:30 – 1:30 pm with the funeral to follow at 1:30. Interment in Riverview Cemetery.
