Melvin Hubert Bechard of Wallaceburg passed away peacefully at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance in Wallaceburg on Friday, February 13 at the age of 90.
Melvin was the son of the late Gilbert and Ella Mae (Labadie) Bechard.
Beloved husband of Lorraine Bechard (DeMaeyer).
Loving father and father in law of David, Brian and Richard Bechard (the late Sheila Briand-Bechard).
Brother of the late Bernice Letourneau, Doug Bechard, George Bechard and Pat Turner.
Brother in law of Millie and Rose Bechard and the late Gerry Turner, Joe, Frank, Cyril, Albert, Lawrence and George.
He will be missed by his many nieces and nephews. Melvin started his career roofing with Jack Phair Construction and went on to work for Dominion Die Cast, Libbey Glass, Eaton Yale and Waltec.
Melvin was a car buff who enjoyed welding and painting cars for his friends.
He loved Country Music, hunting, fishing and golf. Melvin was also a member of the Knights of Columbus Frank Hyde Assembly in the 3rd Degree.
The family would like to thank all of Melvin’s caregivers from Bayshore Health, the ambulance attendants and the staff at the Wallaceburg Hospital for their care and kindness.
Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to the Haycock-Cavanagh Funeral Home, 409 Nelson Street in Wallaceburg.
A Memorial Mass of the Resurrection will be held at a later date.
Interment in Riverview Cemetery.
