OPP officials allege: A traffic complaint has led to impaired driving charges in the Village of Point Edward.
Members of the Lambton County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police received a report of a possible impaired driver on Michigan Avenue just after 2 p.m. on Feb. 15, 2026.
Following an investigation, a 59-year-old from Guelph was arrested and charged under the Criminal Code with operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus) and operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs. The individual was also charged under the Highway Traffic Act with driving while under suspension.
Police said a seven-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute.
The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Sarnia on March 31, 2026.
