Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: A 71-year-old woman from London has been arrested on an outstanding warrant in connection with an alleged fraud spanning several years.
Police allege the accused defrauded an 80-year-old woman from Chatham of approximately $100,000 between 2018 and 2024 by falsely claiming she needed money for medical treatments.
The accused was initially charged with fraud over $5,000 in September 2025 and released with a court date, which she failed to attend.
She was arrested on Feb. 20, 2026, on Third Street in Chatham and later released with conditions. She is scheduled to appear in court on March 23, 2026.
Police are reminding residents, particularly seniors and their families, to remain vigilant about financial scams and report suspicious activity.
