OPP officials allege: A Chatham-Kent resident is facing multiple charges following a drug trafficking investigation by the Ontario Provincial Police Essex County Street Crime Unit.
Police say that on Friday, Feb. 20, 2026, at approximately 5 a.m., members of the Essex County OPP Street Crime Unit, with support from Lambton Street Crime Unit officers and the West Region OPP Emergency Response Team, executed a search warrant at a residence in Wheatley.
Officers reported seizing suspected cocaine, Canadian currency, U.S. currency and drug-related paraphernalia. The estimated value of the items seized is more than $5,000.
A 37-year-old Wheatley resident has been charged with possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking — cocaine, breach of release order and possession of proceeds of crime under $5,000.
The accused was held in custody and was scheduled to appear for a bail hearing before the Ontario Court of Justice in Windsor.
