Chatham man charged after alleged retail delivery theft

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: A Chatham resident is facing charges after an alleged theft involving a retail delivery.

The Chatham-Kent Police Service says officers responded on Feb. 25, 2026, at approximately 7:18 p.m. to a report of a theft from a business on St. Clair Street in Chatham.

Police say a delivery driver attended a residence on Birchwood Street with an online order. After receiving the package, the customer allegedly refused to pay and closed the door.

Officers attended the home shortly after and, with consent from the homeowner, entered the residence and located the opened package.

A 23-year-old man from Chatham has been charged with theft under $5,000 and possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000.

He was transported to police headquarters and later released with conditions and a future court date.
