Capitol Theatre to host intimate performance with David Suzuki and Tara Cullis

The Chatham Capitol Theatre will present What You Won’t Do For Love, a unique theatre experience featuring internationally renowned environmentalists David Suzuki and Tara Cullis, on Tuesday, March 3 at 7 p.m.

The performance explores whether the love we hold for one another can inspire action to protect the planet. Actors and real-life couple Miriam Fernandes and Sturla Alvsvaag share the stage with David and Tara, who have been together for five decades, guiding audiences through a poetic and playful dialogue that blends reflection, humour, and environmental insight.

Directed by Why Not Theatre founder Ravi Jain, with associate direction by Miriam Fernandes and dramaturgy by Kevin Matthew Wong, the show emphasizes the connection between love and activism. Organizers say the performance “asks us to consider love’s capacity to inspire action and propel us all towards a healthier, sustainable planet.”

In promotional remarks, Maude Barlow, author and activist, called it “a deeply personal, totally enchanting love story. David and Tara take us on a magical journey into the heart of commitment — to one another, to family, to community, to justice and to the planet. A testament to hope.”

Naomi Klein and Avi Lewis added, “Warm, wise and overflowing with generosity, this is a love story so epic it embraces all of creation. Yet another reminder of how blessed we are to be in the struggle with elders like David and Tara.”

Tickets are available through the CKTickets website, by phone, or in person at the Chatham Cultural Centre box office.
