A new fundraising campaign aimed at strengthening local hospital care is putting a spotlight on the future of health services in Wallaceburg.
The Chatham-Kent Health Alliance Foundation has launched March Matchness, a month-long initiative that will match donations supporting two key priorities at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance.
Throughout March, gifts directed toward the Wallaceburg redevelopment campaign and enhanced mammography services in Chatham will be matched dollar for dollar, up to $50,000 per initiative, through the support of longtime donors Robin and Bob Hockney.
A significant portion of the campaign is focused on the future of the Wallaceburg hospital site through the Our Hospital, Our Future Wallaceburg Redevelopment Campaign, which aims to modernize the facility and sustain care for residents in the community and surrounding area.
Foundation president and CEO Christine Mitchell said the campaign highlights two urgent needs while giving donors a chance to increase their impact.
“These are two incredibly important priorities for our hospital and our community, and we are deeply grateful to Bob and Robin for making this possible,” said Mitchell. “Their generosity is creating an opportunity for donors to see their gifts have immediate, doubled impact. Whether you are supporting the future of the Wallaceburg hospital or helping strengthen breast health services here in Chatham-Kent, every donation made this month truly goes further for patient care.”
The Wallaceburg redevelopment effort is aimed at improving patient care, upgrading infrastructure and ensuring the long-term sustainability of hospital services in the area.
Bob Hockney, a past chair of the Foundation’s board, said the matching initiative is intended to encourage widespread community support, including for Wallaceburg’s hospital future.
“Matching gifts are a simple but powerful way to inspire people to give,” said Hockney. “Robin and I believe deeply in the importance of our local hospital, and we wanted to create an opportunity where every donation, no matter the size, could have an even greater impact. The care provided at our hospital touches so many lives, and we hope this campaign will rally our community in support of these important initiatives throughout the month of March.”
March Matchness runs until March 31, with all eligible donations to either campaign matched during that time.
