The Chatham-Kent Public Library is acknowledging a donation from the Thamesville LaSertoma Club that has helped expand children’s audio resources at the Thamesville Branch.
The contribution supported the addition of new Yoto materials, including a Yoto listening station and an expanded collection of Yoto titles available for borrowing.
A Yoto is a screen-free, interactive audio player designed for children aged three to 12 and older that allows them to listen to stories, music and educational content independently.
Library officials say the devices help increase accessibility, support different learning styles and encourage reading in an engaging format.
Along with the listening station, the library has added several new Yoto titles to its collection, including Baking with Yoto, K-Pop Demon Hunters Soundtrack, Diary of a Wimpy Kid Collection, Harry Potter series titles, Wicked: The Soundtrack and Phonics: Letters and Sounds.
An Express Yoto Mini with preschool stories and songs has also been added for borrowing, providing families with a portable option for screen-free storytelling and music.
The library introduced Yoto kits and cards last fall, and staff say they quickly became one of the most popular offerings for young readers.
Officials say expanding the collection and adding a dedicated listening station at the Thamesville Branch represents an investment in the community while encouraging visitors to explore the branch’s services and programs.
