A fundraising gala supporting children and youth in Chatham-Kent raised $159,000 earlier this month, according to the Children’s Treatment Centre Foundation of Chatham-Kent.
The fourth annual Gala for the Kids was held March 7 at the Chatham Armoury. This year’s theme, “Disco Inferno,” transformed the historic venue with music, lighting and décor inspired by the disco era.
Guests attended the event in bright colours, sequins and platform shoes while enjoying dinner, entertainment and a dance floor that remained active throughout the evening.
A live and silent auction was among the highlights of the event, with attendees bidding on a range of experiences, items and packages.
“Our community continues to show up in the most incredible way for our kids,” said Mike Genge, president of the CTC Foundation. “The energy in the room was unforgettable, but what truly matters is the lasting impact these funds will have on children and youth who rely on our services every day.”
Funds raised through the event will support programs not covered by government funding, including social work, therapeutic recreation and music therapy services offered through the Children’s Treatment Centre.
The organization says one in five children in Chatham-Kent accesses services through the centre each year.
