Chatham man charged after alleged harassment despite police warning

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: A 37-year-old Chatham man has been charged following an investigation into persistent and unwanted communication with a young woman.

Chatham-Kent police say officers responded March 10, 2026, at approximately 6:38 p.m. to a report of harassment. The investigation revealed the accused had previously been cautioned by police regarding unwanted contact with an 18-year-old female from Chatham, whom he knew only through her employment at a local retail store.

Police say the victim contacted officers to report the accused had continued sending her unwanted and inappropriate messages despite being warned by police to stop all communication.

Officers located the accused on Simonton Street in Chatham, where he was arrested at approximately 1:06 a.m. He has been charged with harassing communications and was transported to Chatham-Kent Police Service headquarters, where he is currently being held for bail.
