OPP officials allege: A 32-year-old Sarnia resident is facing a criminal charge following a traffic stop early Saturday morning in St. Clair Township.
Lambton County Ontario Provincial Police say officers conducted the stop shortly after 1:30 a.m. on March 7, 2026, at Hill Street and Nash Drive after an Automatic Licence Plate Recognition system alerted them to a possible unlicensed driver.
As a result of the investigation, the driver was arrested and charged with failure or refusal to comply with demand under the Criminal Code. Police also issued a 90-day administrative driver’s licence suspension and impounded the vehicle for seven days as required under provincial law.
The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Sarnia on March 24, 2026.
Police remind the public that anyone who suspects a driver may be impaired by alcohol or drugs should contact the OPP at 1-888-310-1122, *OPP (677) on a mobile phone or 911 in an emergency.
