Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: A Chatham man has been charged with criminal harassment following an investigation into repeated unwanted messages sent to a woman over several months.
Chatham-Kent police say officers began investigating a harassment complaint at about 10:56 a.m. on March 12, 2026.
Police say the investigation determined that between July 13, 2025, and March 12, 2026, a 40-year-old Chatham man sent multiple inappropriate messages to a 37-year-old woman from Chatham. The victim asked the man to stop communicating, but police say the messages continued.
The woman later reported the matter to police, and the accused was located in Chatham.
He was arrested and charged with criminal harassment for repeatedly communicating.
The accused was transported to Chatham-Kent Police Service headquarters and later released with a scheduled court date of June 9, 2026.
The Chatham-Kent Police Service reminds the public that criminal harassment is a serious offence and anyone who feels they are being harassed or threatened is encouraged to report the matter to police.
