OPP officials allege: Provincial police have released surveillance images of a suspected arson that investigators believe may be connected to a homicide in the Town of LaSalle earlier this month.
Ontario Provincial Police said the video, released in partnership with the Windsor Police Service, shows a targeted fire at the victim’s residence several months before her death.
On March 3, 2026, at about 9:30 p.m., officers with the LaSalle Police Service responded to reports of a person in medical distress at a home on Todd Lane in LaSalle. Police said officers found a woman suffering from serious injuries consistent with a stabbing. She was taken to hospital where she later died.
Police identified the victim as a 45-year-old Windsor woman.
As the investigation continued, investigators learned Windsor police had previously responded to the same residence during the early morning hours of Nov. 8, 2025, for a deliberately set fire.
Surveillance footage from that incident shows a van stopping in front of the home. Police say a man exits the passenger side carrying a gas can, pours a liquid substance on the front porch and ignites it before getting back into the vehicle and fleeing.
The Windsor Police Service Arson Unit investigated the fire and followed possible leads, but a suspect has not yet been identified.
Investigators have now released the video in an effort to identify the vehicle and the people involved.
The homicide investigation is being led by the LaSalle Police Service under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch, with assistance from the Office of the Chief Coroner and the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service.
