Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: A 26-year-old Chatham man has been arrested in Wallaceburg in connection with a theft investigation and an outstanding warrant, the Chatham-Kent Police Service said.
Police say officers responded on March 13, 2026, to a report of theft at a retail store on McNaughton Avenue. The accused allegedly selected merchandise and left without attempting to pay.
Through surveillance footage, investigators identified the suspect and determined he was bound by prior court-ordered conditions prohibiting him from attending the same location.
A warrant was issued for his arrest.
On March 16, 2026, at about 6:30 p.m., the accused was located on Duncan Street in Wallaceburg and arrested on the strength of the warrant. He is charged with theft under $5,000, possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000 and failing to comply with an undertaking.
Police say he was transported to headquarters and remains in custody pending a bail hearing.
