Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: A 27-year-old Chatham-Kent man is facing charges after an alleged assault at a retail store in Chatham.
Chatham-Kent police say officers responded to a report of an assault at a store on St. Clair Street at about 12:10 p.m. on March 13. Investigators determined the man had been sleeping inside the store when an employee attempted to wake him and was allegedly assaulted.
Police said no serious injuries were reported. Officers attended the scene and arrested the man.
Further investigation revealed the accused was in breach of a probation order. He was charged with assault and failure to comply with probation.
The accused was transported to Chatham-Kent Police Service headquarters and later released with a court date scheduled for April 16, 2026.
