Wallaceburg man charged in child exploitation investigation

OPP officials allege: A 49-year-old Wallaceburg resident is facing charges following a child sexual exploitation investigation led by the Ontario Provincial Police.

Police say that on March 5, 2026, members of the OPP Child Sexual Exploitation Unit executed a search warrant at a residence in Wallaceburg with assistance from the Elgin County OPP, Chatham-Kent Police Service and the OPP Digital Forensics Unit. Several electronic devices were seized.

As a result of the investigation, the accused was arrested and charged with luring a person under 18 years of age by means of telecommunication and luring a person under 16 years of age by means of telecommunication under the Criminal Code.

Police said the accused was released from custody following a bail hearing and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Chatham on April 2, 2026.

The OPP said it will continue to identify and pursue individuals who use technology to exploit children. Parents are encouraged to take a proactive approach to help protect their children from online sexual exploitation by educating them on internet safety and accessing resources available online.
