Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Four adults were taken into custody after police investigated a reported home invasion involving a firearm near Merlin late Monday evening.
The Chatham-Kent Police Service said officers were led to a residence just outside the community, where containment was established as part of the response.
Police confirmed that four adults were taken into custody at the scene. Investigators continue to examine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
At this time, police say there is no concern for public safety.
Earlier in the day, police had advised residents of an increased presence on Aberdeen Street in Merlin due to an active investigation, asking the public to avoid the area and use alternate routes.
“We thank the public for their cooperation as officers continue their investigation,” police said.
