Two suspects arrested in Sarnia robbery and kidnapping investigation

Sarnia Police Service officials allege: Two individuals have been arrested following a robbery and kidnapping investigation in Sarnia, police say.

The Sarnia Police Service said the investigation began March 23, 2026, in the Cromwell Street area, where one person was initially taken into custody while two other suspects remained outstanding.

In an update issued March 26, police said officers were conducting surveillance at a Parker Street residence connected to the investigation when, at about 9 a.m., a man exited the home and left the area on an electric bicycle.

Officers intercepted the individual a short time later and placed him under arrest. Police said a search following the arrest led to the seizure of approximately 11.96 grams of fentanyl, 7.8 grams of cocaine, a folding knife, a digital scale and $180 in cash.

The 30-year-old, who has no fixed address, was held for bail on outstanding robbery and kidnapping warrants and was remanded into custody. He is scheduled to appear in court March 31, 2026, and faces additional drug-related charges.

Police said officers continued to monitor the residence and determined a second suspect was inside. Containment was established while investigators sought a warrant to enter the home.

Negotiations were initiated in an effort to have the individual surrender. Due to the nature of the incident, the police emergency response team, including a K9 unit, crisis negotiators, a critical incident commander and support staff, was deployed.

After several hours, the suspect surrendered to police at about 3:30 p.m. The 40-year-old was held for bail on multiple charges and later remanded into custody following a bail hearing.
