Driver charged with stunt driving in St. Clair Township

OPP officials allege: A 29-year-old Corunna resident is facing multiple charges after a traffic stop in St. Clair Township.

The Ontario Provincial Police said an officer with the Lambton County detachment was conducting patrol shortly after 11:10 p.m. on March 28 when a vehicle was observed failing to stop at a stop sign at the intersection of Mandaumin Road and Plank Road.

Police allege the vehicle was also travelling at more than 140 kilometres per hour in a posted 90 km/h zone. A traffic stop was initiated on Mandaumin Road.

As a result of the investigation, the driver has been charged under the Highway Traffic Act with stunt driving for excessive speed, having a blood alcohol concentration above zero as a novice driver, failing to stop at a stop sign, and obstructing a licence plate.

Police said the accused is scheduled to appear before the Provincial Offences Court in Sarnia on May 14.
