Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: A 42-year-old man has been arrested on an outstanding warrant following an earlier investigation involving stolen property in Chatham.
Chatham-Kent Police Service said the case dates back to Aug. 28, 2025, when officers responded to a report of a stolen bicycle on Pine Street.
Police said a man was later located riding the stolen bicycle and was arrested and charged with possession of property under $5,000.
A subsequent search warrant at a Pine Street residence led to the recovery of another stolen item connected to a break and enter on Prince Arthur Avenue the previous day, resulting in an additional charge of possession of property under $5,000.
The accused was released with a court date of March 19, 2026, but failed to attend, leading to a bench warrant for his arrest.
Police said the man was located on Pine Street at approximately 1:19 a.m. on March 30 and arrested on the strength of the warrant. He was transported to police headquarters and later released with conditions and a future court date.
