Surrounded by his loving family, Mike passed away peacefully on April 1 at Chatham Hospice.
Mike was the loving husband of Pam (Roberts) for almost 60 years, and the loving father of Pat (Barb Marcolin), Sean and Jana Murphy (Dave). Proud and devoted Papa to Kyra (Tony Lurie), Shane Hinnegan, Justin Murphy (Killian Irwin) and Jami Murphy.
He was a proud uncle to his special nieces Jayne, Laurie, Susan and Cathy Hazzard, who he was like a brother to.
Mike taught in the Catholic School System for 33 years, with 25 of of those as Principal at all of the Separate Schools in Wallaceburg. Mike had a passion for sports, especially hockey and lacrosse, and was a successful player and coach in both sports.
In his retirement, he was an avid golfer, fisherman and spectator sport fan, but most of all he was a devoted Father, Grandfather and Husband to his beloved family.
Family and Friends are invited for visitation at the Haycock-Cavanagh Funeral Home, 409 Nelson Street in Wallaceburg (519-627-3231), on Monday, April 6 from 2-4 and 6-8pm.
His Funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady Help of Christians Church on Tuesday, April 7 at 12pm.
