Sarnia Police Service officials allege: Two adults are facing charges and a youth has been held for bail following a theft at a convenience store early April 1.
Police say officers were called at approximately 12:41 a.m. to an Indian Road South store after three individuals wearing black hoodies and black face masks allegedly stole two cases of alcohol and fled northbound.
Officers located two women in the 800 block of Devine Street shortly after the incident. Police say they were dressed in black and carrying about 10 cans of alcohol matching the brand reported stolen. A third individual was later located on Devine Street near Ontario Street and arrested.
Investigators reviewed store security footage, which allegedly showed the trio entering together. Police say one individual approached the cash register and spoke with the clerk in what appeared to be a distraction, while the other two took a case of alcohol each and ran from the store, followed by the third.
Two ski masks were recovered, and the stolen alcohol was returned to the store.
An 18-year-old woman and a 19-year-old woman, both of Sarnia, have each been charged with theft under $5,000, disguise with intent and possession of stolen property. They were released on a police undertaking.
A 14-year-old, who police say was already facing charges in other incidents, was held for bail on an additional charge of theft under $5,000. The identity of the youth is protected under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
