Sarnia Police Service say a 20-year-old Sarnia man is dead following a shooting at a campus bar at Lambton College early Friday morning.
Police said officers were called at 12:52 a.m. on April 10, 2026, to a Lambton College campus bar for a report of gunfire. “Upon arrival, police located three injured parties, one with life-threatening injuries and two with non-life-threatening injuries.”
The seriously injured male was transported to Bluewater Health for emergency treatment, where he later died. “Despite lifesaving efforts, he was later pronounced deceased.”
Police said the case “has now been classified as an ongoing homicide investigation,” adding officers are expected to remain on scene for an extended period and that “there is no one in custody at this time.”
“Additional information will be released as it becomes available,” police said.
In a separate statement posted at 4:18 a.m., Lambton College said “an incident occurred early this morning during a Student Administrative Council event on the Lambton College Main Campus. Emergency services responded immediately and remain on site.”
The college announced its Sarnia campus is closed Friday, April 10, and all classes and on-campus activities are cancelled.
“We ask our students and community to avoid campus,” the college said, adding the closure applies to all classes and services at the Main Campus, Fire School, Skilled Trades Training Centre, EarlyON Child & Family Centre, and Community Employment Services, while noting the Ottawa campus is not impacted.
“The safety of our students, employees, and guests is our highest priority. We are working closely with the Sarnia Police Service as they investigate,” the statement said. “This is a shocking and saddening event for our community. Support resources are available to students through the Counselling page on MyLambton. Further updates will be shared as more information becomes available.”
We’ll share more details when they become available.
