The Jubilee Chorus will launch its 65th choral season next month with a celebratory concert highlighting decades of music and community involvement.

The choir, formerly known as the Laudate Dominum Choir, was founded in 1961 and has since grown into a longstanding cultural presence in Chatham-Kent, known for its repertoire and community engagement.
The anniversary concert, titled “Tune our Hearts To Sing,” is scheduled for May 3 at 7 p.m. at St. Paul’s Discover Life. Organizers say the program will feature a mix of classic choral works, contemporary arrangements and audience favourites, accompanied by local instrumentalists.
The event will also serve as a fundraiser for NeighbourLink, which supports residents across the municipality.
“It’s more than just singing,” said longtime director Elisabeth Enzlin. “This chorus has always been about connection – between music and people, between generations of singers who share a love for singing, their faith, and a love for what we do.”
Over the years, the choir has performed at community events, festivals and fundraisers across southern Ontario, contributing to local charities and cultural life.
Enzlin said the group has remained resilient through recent challenges.
“Like many arts organizations, we faced challenges during the pandemic,” she said. “But the dedication of our members kept us going, attracting new members with their excellence and passion. Reaching 65 years is a testament to that commitment. Choral organizations like the Jubilee Chorus bring people together and strengthen our sense of community. Their 65 year legacy in this community is something of which to be proud.”
Looking ahead, the choir is preparing a performance of Handel’s Messiah scheduled for Dec. 13 and is inviting new members to join, with rehearsals beginning after the May concert.
