Tilbury man charged after alleged assault causing bodily harm

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: A 63-year-old Tilbury man is facing charges following an alleged assault early Tuesday morning.

Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to a disturbance call on April 28, 2026, at approximately 3:41 a.m.

Police say that at the time of the incident, a female victim was attempting to sleep when a male entered the room and assaulted her, causing her to choke briefly and sustain a minor injury from a lit cigarette.

The victim contacted police for assistance.

Officers arrived and located the male on the front lawn and the female inside the residence. Following discussions with both parties, police say grounds were established for the male’s arrest.

The accused has been charged with assault causing bodily harm (choking), contrary to the Criminal Code.

He was transported to Chatham-Kent Police Service headquarters, where he is being held for a bail hearing.

Police say the man is also wanted on an outstanding warrant from the Ontario Provincial Police in Essex.
