Frost advisory continues in Chatham-Kent

A frost advisory continues to be in place for Chatham-Kent, with officials warning that cold overnight temperatures could damage plants and crops in vulnerable areas.

“Frost may damage some crops in frost-prone areas,” Environment Canada officials stated.

Forecasters say patchy frost is expected again overnight as temperatures fall to near or below freezing.

“Patchy frost is expected again tonight as temperatures drop to near or below freezing,” the advisory said.

Conditions are expected to persist into the weekend, with additional frost possible Saturday night in areas that remain clear.

“Patchy frost is likely again Saturday night for some areas that remain clear,” officials said.

The advisory warns that sensitive vegetation could be affected.

“Damage to plants, trees, and crops is possible,” the statement noted.

Residents are encouraged to take precautions to protect vegetation.

“Cover up plants, especially those in frost-prone areas,” the advisory said.

Officials also advise the public to stay updated on changing conditions.
