It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Lynn Robert Carter, a beloved lifelong resident of Wallaceburg, who passed away on April 28, 2026, at the age of 75, surrounded by the love of his family.
Lynn was the eldest son of the late Lionel and Marie Carter. He will be profoundly missed by his devoted wife of 38 years, Martha Carter, and by their children, Ed and Cathy Topliffe. He will also be deeply missed by his siblings, Janice Carter-McLeod (the late Ian), Wendy Denning (Ron), Kevin Carter (Dina), and Randy Carter (Mary); his sister-in-law, the late Diane Pogoda; and his brother-in-law, Ed Borlik (Linda) all of whom will forever cherish Lynn’s smile, quick wit, and the genuine camaraderie they shared. Uncle Lynny was also dearly loved by his nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
Lynn was known for his restless, energetic spirit and was never one to sit still for long. Whether he was puttering in the garage, tending to his yard, or tackling a home project, he found joy in keeping busy. Exceptionally handy and resourceful, Lynn could fix just about anything and was always willing to lend a helping hand to family, friends, and neighbours whenever it was needed.
His strong work ethic was equally evident throughout his 32 dedicated years at Libbey Glass Factory, where he became a familiar and hardworking face in the community.
Lynn and Martha shared many wonderful vacations together over the years, especially their trips south. Cooking and experimenting with new recipes became one of Lynn’s favourite pastimes. He was also the ultimate jokester, instantly recognizable by his devilish grin and infectious laugh. Lynn always enjoyed stopping in at McDonald’s for coffee, where stories were shared and friendships were made. He will be forever loved in our hearts and deeply missed.
A celebration of Lynn’s life will be held in July, date to be determined.
The family asks that you honour Lynn’s memory in the way he would have appreciated most: by sharing a laugh, a story, or a fond memory.
The family would also like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the compassionate staff at Wallaceburg Hospital, Chatham-Kent Health Alliance, and Victoria Hospital in London for the care, kindness, and support shown to Lynn and his family throughout his journey.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Haycock-Cavanagh Funeral Home, 409 Nelson Street in Wallaceburg (519-627-3231).
