Walpole Island First Nation has released the list of candidates whose names will appear on the ballot for its upcoming election.
Election day is set for Saturday, Sept. 19, 2026.
Six candidates are running for chief: Kennon M.L. Johnson, Cody Miskokomon, Daniel Miskokomon, Hussein (Sayno) Sayed, Ronald A. (Ron) Soney, Jason Sword and Leela Thomas.
A lengthy list of candidates is also running for councillor positions, including Tawny (Natane Jade) Allison, Charlene Altiman, Steven Amaro, Harmony Blackbird, Rebecca M. (Becky) Blackbird, Sharon Elaine Coyle, Garnet Dodge Sr., Jeffery Drew Isaac, Kyle Dane (Frankie) Isaac, Suzanne (Suzi) Isaac, Tahnee Isaac, Lee Jacobs, Lyle Johnson, Lee Kicknosway, Stacey Kicknosway, Cody Miskokomon, Marsha Miskokomon, Robert R. Myers, Matthew Nahdee, Kristin Noble (Whiteye), Judy Peters M.D., Kirk Peters, Leonard Scott Peters, Harold Pinnance, Paige Riley, Christina Lynn Sands, Jennifer Sands (Isaac), H. Carl Smith Sr., Kay-Cee Soney, Trenton Soney, Walker Stonefish, Jason Sword, Valarie Waboose, Terri Lee Whiteye, Ava Williams and Larissa Wrightman.
The candidate list was signed by Electoral Officer Vaughn Johnston on Aug. 14, 2026.
