Several candidates file for the 2026 Chatham-Kent Election

The field of candidates for the 2026 Municipality of Chatham-Kent Election is filling up by the day.

In Ward 1, a former Councillor filed his papers on Monday, May 11, 2026.

Mark Authier will be seeking a third term on Council representing South West Kent.

Michael Bond is running in Ward 1 as well, after filing on Friday.

Chad Carnie joined the race in Ward 2 – South East Kent.

Matthew Pietens filed his papers and is running in Ward 3 – North East Kent.

Ben Labadie is running in Ward 6 – North West Chatham, while Sandra Dorner, John Duquette, Stephani Shill, and Scott Thompson are all running in Ward 8 – South Chatham.

The nomination period opened May 1 and will run until Aug. 21, 2026, at 2 p.m.
