Spring Handbags for Hospice fundraiser raises more than $35,000 in Chatham-Kent

The second annual Spring Handbags for Hospice fundraiser raised more than $35,000 to support families receiving care through Chatham-Kent Hospice Foundation.

The event was held April 16 at the Everest Convention Centre and generated $35,500 for hospice care and grief support services in Chatham-Kent.

Attendees participated in 12 rounds of bingo featuring designer handbags as prizes, along with raffle draws that included more than 30 donated items from local businesses and residents. Organizers also held a Michael Kors Platinum Purse draw and a mystery bag contest during the evening.

“Handbags for Hospice is always a highlight for our community,” Brock McGregor, executive director of the Chatham-Kent Hospice Foundation, said in a statement. “We are deeply grateful to the volunteers, sponsors, and attendees who make this event possible. Every dollar raised goes directly to providing compassionate care to our residents and grief support to families—at no cost.”

Organizers said the next Handbags for Hospice event is scheduled for Oct. 15, 2026.
