Traffic complaint leads to impaired driving arrest in Grand Bend

OPP officials allege: A traffic complaint from a member of the public led to the arrest of an impaired driver in Grand Bend, according to the Ontario Provincial Police.

Lambton County OPP say officers received a report on May 16 at approximately 5:20 p.m. about a possible impaired driver in the area.

Police located the vehicle on Ontario Street South and conducted a traffic stop as part of the investigation.

As a result, an 18-year-old Lasalle man was arrested and charged under the Criminal Code, Highway Traffic Act, Liquor Licence and Control Act, and Cannabis Control Act with multiple offences, including operation while impaired by alcohol and drugs and operation with a blood alcohol concentration over the legal limit.

The accused was also charged with novice driver having a blood alcohol concentration above zero, having care or control of a motor vehicle with open liquor, and having care or control of a motor vehicle with open liquor in open baggage, as well as two counts of having care or control of a vehicle with cannabis in open baggage.

Police say the accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Sarnia on June 18, 2026.

Lambton OPP thanked the member of the public who reported the incident, saying public vigilance helps keep roads safe and encouraging residents to report suspected impaired drivers by contacting police at 1-888-310-1122.
