Provincial investment of $1M set to enhance diagnostic imaging at Chatham-Kent Health Alliance

The Chatham-Kent Health Alliance is receiving a provincial investment of $1 million aimed at increasing diagnostic imaging capacity and reducing wait times for CT scans in the region.

The funding, announced May 21, 2026, by Trevor Jones, will support expanded Computer Tomography operational capacity within the hospital’s Diagnostic Imaging Department.

Officials say the investment will help address demand for CT services, with CKHA performing approximately 24,000 scans annually for both inpatients and outpatients.

“Our government is continuing to make meaningful investments in health care services that people in Chatham-Kent can rely on close to home. This $1 million investment for the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance will help expand CT operational capacity, reduce diagnostic wait times, and ensure patients receive timely access to the care and screenings they need,” said Trevor Jones, MPP Chatham-Kent-Leamington. “This funding reflects our commitment to strengthening local health care infrastructure and supporting the incredible staff who deliver these essential services every day.”

CKHA leadership says the funding will allow the hospital to increase operational hours and improve patient access to timely diagnostic services.

“The provincial government’s investment supports improved access to our CT scans for our patients,” said Adam Topp. “By increasing our operational hours, we are making a clear commitment to reducing wait times and ensuring our patients receive the care they need, when they need it, and where they need it.”

“This funding allows the team to build on the high-quality care already provided at CKHA while moving closer to the provincial target,” said Cynthia Stulp. “This will ensure the department can meet the community’s needs more efficiently, keeping ‘Our focus is YOU’ at the center of every scan.”

The hospital says the investment represents a key step in strengthening local diagnostic services and improving access to timely, high-quality care close to home.
