OPP officials allege: A traffic stop in Lambton Shores led to cannabis-related charges after officers with the Ontario Provincial Police say they discovered a large quantity of cannabis in a vehicle following an Automated Licence Plate Recognition alert.
Police say that on May 15, 2026, shortly after 11 a.m., an officer with the Lambton County detachment received an ALPR alert for a vehicle travelling on Nauvoo Road near Brickyard Line in the Municipality of Lambton Shores.
A traffic stop was initiated on Rawlings Road near Townsend Line. During the investigation, the driver was arrested on an outstanding warrant. Officers then searched the vehicle and located a large quantity of cannabis.
As a result, a 65-year-old Ancaster resident has been charged under the Cannabis Act and the Cannabis Control Act with distributing more than 30 grams of dried cannabis and driving a vehicle with cannabis readily available. The individual was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Sarnia on June 24, 2026.
