Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: A 28-year-old Windsor man is facing multiple charges after a weapons and forcible confinement investigation in Chatham prompted a shelter-in-place request from police Sunday afternoon.
The Chatham-Kent Police Service said officers responded May 24 at about 12:51 p.m. to a residence on Queens Line for a report involving a weapons offence and forcible confinement investigation.
Police alleged the accused, who was carrying a firearm, attended a residence earlier in search of an 18-year-old woman from Chatham. Investigators said the woman was removed against her will and sexually assaulted during the incident.
Police also alleged the accused was breaching a court-ordered release condition at the time.
The accused was arrested and charged with pointing a firearm, uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, two counts of sexual assault, kidnapping and failure to comply with a release order.
He was transported to Chatham-Kent Police Service headquarters and held pending a bail hearing.
Police said the investigation determined the incident was isolated and there is no ongoing threat to public safety.
The investigation remains ongoing.
