A team of students from Holy Family Catholic School in Wallaceburg highlighted their work in digital innovation and STEM education during a recent presentation to trustees of the St. Clair Catholic District School Board.
The “Girls Who Game” team presented at the board’s May 26 meeting, sharing how they have been using Minecraft Education to design sustainable communities while building leadership skills and confidence in science, technology, engineering and mathematics.
According to the board, the Grade 4 to 7 students focused on collaboration, creativity and problem-solving as part of their project, which emphasized building inclusive and sustainable virtual environments.
The initiative is part of a broader effort within Catholic education to support student learning through innovation, mentorship and hands-on exploration of STEM-related fields.
The board said it is proud of the students’ work and the educators who support them, adding that the project reflects values of hope, belonging and using individual gifts to contribute positively to the community.
“The future is bright,” the post stated.
