Chatham man charged with impaired driving after traffic complaint

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: A 53-year-old Chatham man is facing an impaired driving charge after police investigated a driving complaint on Taylor Avenue.

Chatham-Kent police said officers initiated a traffic stop at about 10:05 p.m. on May 31 after receiving a complaint about a vehicle.

Police requested a breath sample using an Approved Screening Device. After the device registered a fail, the driver was arrested and taken to Chatham-Kent Police Service headquarters for further testing. Police said the testing revealed a blood-alcohol concentration above the legal limit.

The man was charged with operation while impaired — blood alcohol concentration (80 Plus). He was released with a court date of July 13, 2026.
