The Ursuline College Chatham Lancers have extended their dominance in local high school rugby, capturing a sixth consecutive LKSSAA girls rugby championship with a 38-7 victory over the LCCVI Lancers of Petrolia.
The championship match was played Wednesday at Ursuline College and marked the fourth straight year the two teams have met in the Lambton-Kent Secondary School Athletic Association final.
Zoie Knight led the offence for UCC with four tries. Robyn Mann and Audrey DeNijs each added a try, while Akira Labadie converted four kicks.
The victory continues an impressive run for the Lancers, who have established themselves as one of the premier high school rugby programs in Southwestern Ontario and among the strongest teams in the province.
The championship win was celebrated with strong alumni support, as more than 20 former UCC rugby players returned to cheer on the current squad during the title game.
The latest championship adds to the Lancers’ growing legacy of success and further cements the program’s position as a regional rugby powerhouse.
