Residents of Dresden and across Chatham-Kent are invited to attend a public information meeting later this month on the proposed York1 waste and landfill project and the municipality’s ongoing advocacy efforts regarding the proposal.
The meeting will take place Wednesday, June 24, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Ken Houston Agricultural Centre, located at 1212 North Street in Dresden.
While officials say there have been no major developments, the municipality says it remains committed to keeping the community informed about the issue and its response to the proposed project.
According to Chatham-Kent, the session will provide an update on actions being taken by the municipality, including ongoing advocacy with provincial officials and information received to date from York1 regarding the proposed development.
Due to the technical nature of the proposal, there will be no open-mic question period during the meeting. Instead, residents are being asked to submit questions in advance through the Let’s Talk Chatham-Kent platform. Questions can be submitted until June 19 at www.letstalkchatham-kent.ca/defend-dresden/surveys/dresden-public-meeting-question-submission-survey and will be read and answered during the session.
The municipality says it will make every effort to respond to all submitted questions.
Staff will also be available after the formal presentation to speak with residents one-on-one.
