Rock the Hood music festival returns to Shrewsbury on June 20

The Rock the Hood Music Festival will return to Shrewsbury on June 20 following a sold-out debut event last year.

The one-day festival will run from noon to 11 p.m. and feature a lineup of local performers spanning multiple genres. Organizers say Big Shiny Toons will headline the event, with performances also scheduled by Poor Man’s Poet, The Wednesdays, Ray Whaling & the Brethren, Scott Manery & The Barnburners, Colt McLaughlin, Love Muscle and Electric Crush.

Event organizers said they are building on the success of the inaugural festival and introducing several enhancements for attendees.

“After the huge success of last’s years first ever Rock the Hood we are so excited,” said Kris Osborn, president of the Shrewsbury Raglan Assembly. “The feedback was so good that it’s going to be amazing to see more food trucks and some other small changes to make things even better for this year!”

In addition to live music, festivalgoers will be able to purchase food from local vendors including Dog Days BBQ, Chi-Town Munchies Road House and Sweet Cone’s Ice Cream & More.

Advance tickets are available for $25, with admission costing $30 at the door. Tickets can be purchased in advance at Wayne’s Pizza and Subs and Westside Performance Plus in Blenheim, as well as the Fortress Tavern in Chatham.

Beverage tickets, 50/50 tickets and Rock the Hood T-shirts will also be available during the event.

Organizers said $5 round-trip bus transportation will be offered from both Blenheim and Chatham to help improve accessibility and safety.

Proceeds from the festival will support community initiatives in Shrewsbury, including local projects and future events.

The festival is a cash-only event for those 19 and older and is supported by several local sponsors, including Clarke’s Construction.

Additional information, including bus schedules and event updates, is available through the Rock the Hood Facebook page.
