Trustees with the St. Clair Catholic District School Board have approved a balanced $160.6-million operating budget for the 2026-27 school year, including investments in student supports and school infrastructure.
Board officials said the spending plan focuses on student achievement, well-being and Catholic faith formation while maintaining financial stability through long-term planning.
The budget includes 17 new positions dedicated to special education and mental health services.
“Our 2026–2027 budget reflects the strength of our long-term planning and our commitment to investing directly in students,” said Amy Park, associate director of corporate services. “Because of careful stewardship and responsible decisions over many years, we are able to maintain a balanced budget while continuing to support the programs, people, and environments that help students learn and grow.”
Director of Education Lisa Demers said trustees have consistently prioritized student needs.
“This budget reflects our deep commitment to helping every student believe, achieve, and accompany one another in faith and learning,” Demers said. “Our Trustees have consistently supported decisions that put students first. Their leadership ensures we can continue investing in the programs, people, and environments that help our young people thrive.”
The board said strong enrolment growth, particularly at the secondary level, has contributed to its financial outlook. It also highlighted investments in school renewal, accessibility improvements and continued support for numeracy and faith formation initiatives.
