Chatham-Kent Public Health is warning the public after identifying inadequate equipment disinfection practices at an uninspected and unlicensed tattoo provider in Wallaceburg.
The health unit said the concerns apply to tattoo services provided at 592 Wallace St. E. between Jan. 1 and June 29, 2026.
Anyone who received tattoo services at the location during that period is advised to contact their health-care provider to arrange a clinical assessment. Those without a health-care provider are encouraged to visit a walk-in clinic for evaluation.
Public health officials said inadequate infection prevention and control procedures during tattoo services can increase the risk of transmitting blood-borne infections, including HIV and hepatitis, as well as skin infections.
