The Thames Art Gallery is preparing to open a new exhibition highlighting 15 years of work by Canadian artist Zachari Logan.
Presented by CK Arts + Culture, “Cultivation Blues” will explore self-portraiture as a central theme throughout Logan’s artistic practice while examining gender, masculinity and the relationship between humans and nature through references to Western art history.
The exhibition will feature Logan’s large-scale drawings, which combine hyper-realistic flora with the male body, as well as works in ceramics, painting, fabric and installation. Poetry from Logan’s recent publication, “green.”, will also be incorporated into the exhibition.
The public is invited to attend an opening reception on July 17 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., where Logan will be present to discuss the artwork.
“Cultivation Blues” will be on display from July 18 to Oct. 11.
The Thames Art Gallery is open Wednesday through Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., with extended hours until 6 p.m. on Saturdays. Admission is by donation.
