Red Dino Productions has completed the first day of filming on its upcoming short film, Wild Daisy, with production taking place at Jaycee Riverview Park in Chatham.
The park served as the fictional town of Willow Pine Creek during the film’s historical sequences. Thirteen local cast and crew members, along with one canine actor, participated in the production.
Wild Daisy is a gothic romance with supernatural elements written and directed by Shawn Stoner and produced by Red Dino Productions. The company said the film continues its mission of promoting Chatham-Kent as a filming destination while showcasing local talent.
The story follows two lovers separated by a dark secret who continue exchanging letters as one struggles to protect the other from the truth.
“It’s exciting to see an idea leave the page and finally come to life on screen,” said writer and director Shawn Stoner. “We’re grateful for the support we’ve received and look forward to returning this fall to complete the film.”
The production also received support from local businesses, including Pizazz! Florals and Balloons, which donated the daisies featured in the film.
Filming will resume in October as production moves to the story’s present-day scenes. The film is expected to premiere in 2027.
