Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: A 42-year-old Wallaceburg man is facing several charges after a woman reported an alleged assault to the Chatham-Kent Police Service.
Police said the woman attended police headquarters at about 1:08 p.m. on Thursday to report an assault that had occurred the previous day.
Investigators allege the woman had been punched, choked and threatened with a hammer.
As a result of the investigation, a 42-year-old Wallaceburg man was arrested and charged with assault, assault causing bodily harm by choking, suffocating or strangling, assault with a weapon, and uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm.
The accused was transported to Chatham-Kent Police Service headquarters and held pending a bail hearing.
