The Rotary Club of Chatham is thanking the community for its support following a successful fundraiser benefiting fellow club member Ashley and her need for wheelchair accessible transportation services and equipment.
A Victory Ford Test Drive fundraiser was held May 30 to raise funds for Ashley, with members of the Chatham-Kent community coming out in strong numbers to take vehicles for test drives.
Together with Victory Ford, community donations helped raise $27,000 to help eliminate barriers to community inclusion for Ashley.
Victory Ford contributed the maximum $6,000 pledge from the test drive fundraiser proceeds, while individual donations and a significant anonymous gift helped increase the total.
Ashley said she plans to continue giving back to the community in the future.
The Rotary Club of Chatham said Ashley’s positive approach and enthusiasm have inspired those around her, and she looks forward to continuing to support others when she can.
Donna Litwin-Makey, past president of the Rotary Club of Chatham, said members came together in a unique situation to support Ashley.
“On behalf of Ashley and the Rotary Club of Chatham, we thank all individuals who completed a test drive, and forwarded contributions. It is wonderful to be part of such a supportive community”.
