Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: A 73-year-old man from Harwich Township is facing multiple charges after Chatham-Kent police responded to a disturbance at a Blenheim residence Wednesday evening.
Police were called to the scene at approximately 6:16 p.m. on July 15, 2026. Investigators learned the man, who was intoxicated, struck a 39-year-old victim with a piece of wood, causing a minor injury that did not require additional medical attention.
Further investigation revealed the accused also damaged a window at the residence with a shovel before pursuing three individuals and uttering threats to harm them. Police located and arrested the man a short distance from the residence.
He was charged with assault with a weapon, mischief under $5,000, and three counts of uttering threats to cause bodily harm or death.
He was transported to Chatham-Kent Police Service Headquarters and is currently held for bail.
