Mark Childs, Candidate for Councillor, Ward 5 – Wallaceburg
What motivated you to run in the 2026 municipal election, and what do you believe you can bring to Chatham-Kent council that is needed right now?
“I have always been a community minded individual and I felt it was time to take things to the next level.”
What are the biggest issues facing residents in your ward and across Chatham-Kent, and how would you work to address them if elected?
“Top heavy municipal payroll, the homeless situation, housing, taxes, attracting businesses to Wallaceburg, and the out of control weed situation to name a few.”
What would you like voters to know about you personally — including your background, experience, and values — as they decide who to support in this election?
“I have been actively involved in the community for decades. My family sponsors most sports teams, we run the annual Salvation Army luncheon, we donate to dozens of fundraising events and I try to do what I can behind the scenes. We have been donating soup to the local church since Covid. A portion of this goes to Rock Missions. At this point, if elected, I hope to have a chance to do more.”
How can people connect with and learn more about you during your election campaign?
“My Facebook page will be my main information page.”
