Wallaceburg man charged with assault, forcible confinement after Thursday disturbance

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: A 32-year-old Wallaceburg man is facing charges after police responded to a disturbance at a residence on Wallace Street on Thursday evening.

Chatham-Kent police officers were called to the home at approximately 7:45 p.m. on July 23. Investigators determined that a verbal dispute between two people had escalated into a physical altercation. During the incident, the accused assaulted the victim while attempting to retrieve a cellular phone, police said. The victim then tried to leave the residence, and the accused attempted to prevent them from doing so.

The man was arrested and charged with assault and forcible confinement. He was taken to Chatham-Kent Police headquarters, where he was released on an undertaking. He is scheduled to appear in court on August 31, 2026.
