Chatham woman charged after alleged breach of release conditions, assault

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: A 34-year-old Chatham woman is facing charges after Chatham-Kent police say she breached court-ordered conditions and assaulted a victim on St. Clair Street in Chatham.

Members of the Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to a residence on St. Clair Street on Friday, July 24, 2026, at approximately 10:42 p.m. after receiving a report that a woman bound by a court-ordered release condition was at the residence in breach of those conditions.

Police attended and located the woman outside the residence. During the investigation, officers learned she was in contravention of conditions prohibiting her from attending the residence and communicating with the victim. Further investigation revealed that prior to police arrival, the woman had assaulted the victim.

As a result, the woman was arrested and charged with failing to comply with an undertaking by attending a location she was not permitted to attend, failing to comply with an undertaking by communicating with a person she was not permitted to contact, and assault. She was held pending a bail hearing.
